Taking the first step toward a healthier lifestyle can be hard, but once you’ve gotten the hang of working out, you’ll find that it’s something you can actually enjoy doing. To make the most out of your workouts, though, make sure that you do a couple of pre- and post-workout activities. Here are some of the things you need to take note of.

Get enough sleep

You’ll need energy to perform different fitness drills and movements, so it’s important that you take a good rest. If you plan to go to the gym the next day, make sure that you get enough sleep — a minimum of six and a half hours — in preparation. Aside from making you feel well-rested, getting enough sleep also helps you avoid overeating, making sure that your efforts in the gym don’t go to waste.

Hydrate

It goes without saying, but we’d like to reiterate: you need to drink lots of water. When you work out, you lose water in your body because you sweat it out. So make sure that you replenish by drinking up.


Warm up

Before you subject your body to a strenuous workout, make sure that it’s well-prepped to take on the stress. Just like an engine about to go on a rough journey, make sure that you revv up your body by engaging in a dynamic warm-up routine. Increase your range of motion so your body’s ready to do more work.

Stretch

As much as you prepare your body before working out, you must also take care of it after. Make sure that you cool your body down and stretch your muscles and joints to prepare for rest. Remember to never sit right after you work out as your muscles are still stretched.



Feed your body

Reward your body for its hard work. Aid your body’s recovery by feeding it with a nutritious post-workout meal. Make sure that you eat 30 to 45 minutes after working out as this is the time your body looks for proteins and carbohydrates.

Cannes Stunners



We're loving all the elegant looks at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, but we were mesmerised by Lily-Rose Depp looking like a Greek goddess in a Chanel number. We also love Elle Fanning's minimalist Vivienne Westwood gown. The ever-stunning Susan Sarandon also stunned us with an Alberta Ferretti dress.

From Depp's fresh look, we're also looking forward to seeing the new offerings at Paul&Shark, which opened a new flagship boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.


Club Clio



Get ready to be part of Club Clio. Korean brands Clio, Peripera, and Goodal can now be found in the Philippines. Visit the first Club Clio shop on the third floor of TriNoma mall. The products will also soon be available online at ZALORA.
